Centene Announces Planned CFO Transition

Centene (NYSE:CNC) announced that Chief Financial Officer Drew Asher will step down from his role on December 31, 2026, and retire from the company at the end of 2027. Chris Neczypor will join the organization in September and work alongside Asher before formally assuming the Executive Vice President and CFO role on January 1, 2027. Asher will remain with Centene through his retirement to support strategic initiatives and ensure a smooth handover.

Neczypor previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Lincoln Financial, a provider of life insurance, annuities, group benefits, and retirement solutions, since joining the company in 2018. He also held roles including Chief Strategy Officer at Lincoln, and prior to that spent more than a decade in Investment and financial services, including as an Equity research analyst at Goldman Sachs.

Leadership Comments on the Transition

Centene Chief Executive Officer Sarah London said Neczypor brings a proven track record of strengthening financial performance and creating long-term Shareholder value, describing him as a collaborative, values-driven leader. Neczypor said he was honored to join Centene and looks forward to working with London and the Leadership team as CFO.

Asher, who has more than three decades of experience in financial and healthcare industry leadership, has served as CFO since 2021. During his tenure, Centene's revenue grew from approximately $126 billion in 2021 to approximately $195 billion in 2025, reflecting a significant increase in the company's scale during a period of broader transformation across the healthcare industry. Asher said he remains proud of how Centene navigated substantial change while maintaining disciplined execution, and said he looks forward to continuing to work with London and Neczypor through 2027. London thanked Asher for his contributions, citing his strategic perspective and financial discipline in setting up the company's next phase of growth.

Guidance Reaffirmed Alongside Announcement

Alongside the leadership transition announcement, Centene reaffirmed its previously issued full-year 2026 adjusted diluted earnings-per-share guidance of greater than $4.80, along with all associated 2026 full-year guidance metrics provided in its July 28 second-quarter earnings release. The reaffirmation signals that the CFO transition is not expected to disrupt the company's near-term financial outlook or previously communicated targets.
