Financial Performance Behind the Payout

A Transition Year: Riverdale, Eastover and Tariffs
Sylvamo describes 2026 as a transition year. The Riverdale supply agreement with International Paper terminated at the end of April, and an extended outage at the Eastover mill is scheduled while strategic investments are completed. Volume decreased primarily because of lower North America volume and an inventory build ahead of the Eastover outage.
The Eastover paper machine optimization project, scheduled for the fourth quarter outage, adds 60,000 short tons of uncoated freesheet capacity annually. The softwood operation is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The company has implemented uncoated freesheet price increases across all regions.
Outlook
Sylvamo states a $85 million unfavorable impact on full-year 2026 Adjusted EBITDA from the North America footprint transition, a $75 million to $85 million second-half price and mix benefit versus the first half, and an incremental annual Adjusted EBITDA benefit of $50 million from the paper machine speed-up and new sheeter, including $30 million to $40 million in 2027. Eastover project timing and planned maintenance outage costs are the items the company discusses.
