TCGX Acquisition Corp. II (NASDAQ:TCXB) closed at $10.86 on Friday, October 16, 2026, a gain of 8.60% from its $10.00 offering price on its first day of trading on the Nasdaq. The special purpose acquisition company priced its initial public offering of 10 million Class A ordinary shares at $10.00 per share on Thursday night, raising $100 million, and its shares began trading on the Nasdaq Capital Market under the symbol TCXB on Friday. The debut came in a broadly weak session for US equities, and the stock opened at $11.20 before ending the day above the offering price.
A Stock-Only SPAC Debut
TCGX Acquisition Corp. II is a stock-only SPAC, meaning investors in the offering did not receive warrants that would become exercisable after an initial business combination. The company is a Cayman Islands blank check company sponsored by an affiliate of TCG Crossover, a life sciences-focused investment firm. It intends to focus its search on companies in the life sciences and medical technology sectors and may pursue a target in Asia, including Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China.
Chen Yu, the founder and managing member of TCGX, serves as chief executive officer, and Craig Skaling serves as chief financial officer. Guggenheim Securities acted as sole bookrunner on the offering. The sponsor's earlier SPAC, TCGX Acquisition Corp., listed on the Nasdaq under the symbol TCGX in August 2026 and is also targeting healthcare in Asia.
Weak Tape, Strong Debut
US stocks fell on Friday in a risk-off session led by a renewed selloff in artificial-intelligence, semiconductor and data-center stocks. The S&P 500 closed down 1.09% at 7,659.44, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped about 2.14% to 26,140.03, snapping a four-week winning streak. Hotter-than-expected inflation data kept pressure on the Federal Reserve, and the 10-year Treasury yield sat near 5.10%.
SPAC shares usually trade quietly in a tight range near their trust value until a deal is announced, so a first-day move largely reflects how a new listing is priced and traded in its debut session. No merger announcement or deal target was tied to the session, and the move did not connect to the day's sector themes, which centered on energy, defense and defensive names rather than blank check companies.
A Debut Above Par
TCXB ended its first session $0.86 above the $10.00 offering price, an 8.60% gain on a day the Nasdaq Composite fell 2.14%.
