Leasing Mix Shift Turns Gross Profit Positive
Ionic Digital (NASDAQ:IOND) reported third-quarter results on November 4, 2026. The company develops high-performance computing and Data Center infrastructure and has moved away from Bitcoin Mining toward leasing power-ready capacity. Digital infrastructure leasing was about 90% of USD 49.0 million in revenue, while mining revenue fell to USD 5.1 million from USD 37.1 million. Gross profit was USD 39 million against a loss of USD 7 million, and adjusted gross profit (non-GAAP) was USD 44 million against USD 11 million. Management noted that the USD 44 million of leasing revenue equals only USD 7 million on a cash basis, with cash rent ramping through February 2028. General and administrative expense rose to USD 25.8 million from USD 10.1 million.
Warrants and Bitcoin Marks Swing the Net Result
Operating income of USD 86.7 million included a USD 73.2 million non-cash gain on the fair value of cryptocurrency. Below that line, a USD 65.9 million non-cash charge hit other expense because the fair value of warrants issued in June 2026 increased, leaving a warrant Liability of USD 100.0 million on the balance sheet. After a USD 6.7 million tax provision, Net Income was USD 17.4 million. Over nine months the company reported a net loss of USD 30.9 million, or USD 0.79 per share, so the quarter's profit rests on non-cash marks that can reverse. Since quarter end, it sold about 25% of its bitcoin for roughly USD 62 million in cash.
Ward County Power Pipeline and Full-Year Outlook
The company received a provisional Batch Zero Baseload Pathway (b) classification from ERCOT in September for its 466 gross MW large-load request at Ward County. It still expects energization in late 2027 as ERCOT finishes final classification in December, and it is focused on leasing about 500 gross MW of remaining near-term capacity. It cited an existing Nscale Lease supported by Microsoft Demand and a guarantee from Nvidia. The 2026 outlook was reaffirmed: leasing revenue of USD 175 million, mining revenue of USD 15 million to USD 20 million, adjusted EBITDA of USD 137.5 million to USD 142.5 million and capital expenditures of USD 45 million to USD 60 million. Risks include the ERCOT process, regulatory change, customer concentration and delays.
Where Things Stand
A non-cash accounting charge, not the operating business. Ionic Digital (NASDAQ:IOND) booked a USD 65.9 million increase in warrant fair value, which cut net income to USD 17.4 million, while a USD 73 million bitcoin fair value gain offset most of it. Offsetting that, leasing revenue and margins improved and the Balance Sheet carries no debt. Next markers are the December ERCOT final classification, new leases for the remaining capacity, and the pace of cash rent as it ramps through February 2028.
