Customer pay revenue rose 6%, wholesale parts 16%, and customer pay and warranty gross profit each rose 5%. The company said customer-facing demand remains healthy and it focuses on retention, repair order content and technology-enabled productivity. Gross Margin was 47.8% compared with 48.7%, a change the company attributed entirely to mix. Sales and gross profit were lower for internal reconditioning and collision because of lower vehicle volumes.

The customer financial services platform generated USD 349 million of gross profit. AutoNation Finance retained about USD 500 million of originations, and its portfolio reached about USD 2.9 billion from USD 2.0 billion, 91% funded by non-recourse Debt versus 86%. Through September, the company deployed USD 620 million to repurchases, about 84% to 85% of free cash flow, and chief executive Mike Manley said repurchases remain the preferred use of incremental capital, consistent with a focus on long-term EPS growth. Since 2022 the company has allocated 88% of adjusted free cash flow to repurchases. Acquisitions in the second quarter added about USD 600 million in annual revenue through three premium luxury stores and one Toyota store. Leverage remains within the 2x to 3x EBITDA target range, and the company is committed to its investment-grade rating.
