Natural Colors Drive Growth

Sensient Technologies Corporation (NYSE:SXT) reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of USD 455.8 million compared with USD 412.1 million a year earlier. Operating income was USD 72.4 million compared with USD 57.7 million, which included USD 3.3 million, or about USD 0.09 per share, of portfolio optimization costs. Local currency adjusted EPS grew 18%, and local currency adjusted EBITDA was up 15.4%. Cash Flow from operations was USD 40 million and capital expenditures were USD 38 million in the quarter.

Management said 85% of new U.S. product launches in the quarter were naturally colored, and that FDA synthetic color certifications fell nearly 10% over twelve months as customers replace synthetic colors. Customers are destocking synthetic colors across their portfolios, and management anticipates a continued decline, with synthetic colors made in the United States eventually directed mostly at Latin America and Asia Pacific customers. The sales pipeline continues to grow toward the USD 1 billion natural color conversion sales target.

Conversion and Capacity Checkpoints

Leverage is about 2.3x and is projected to end the year near that level, and management said free cash flow is directionally not meaningfully positive until 2028 given the Investment build, while it maintains a goal of lifting return on invested capital to the mid-teens. Items to watch include the 2027 conversion launch schedule, natural color capacity investment, Flavors and Extracts margins and currency effects.
