Which bank Earnings reflect acquisitions in the latest quarter?

Two of the five reports are clearly acquisition-driven. Axos Financial (NYSE:AX) reported net income of $129.6 million, or $2.25 per diluted share, with results of the acquired Verdant Business included since September 30, 2025.

The other three reports describe different drivers, so they are included as comparison points rather than as Acquisition stories. Chain Bridge Bancorp (NYSE:CBNA) reported net income of $10.9 million, or $1.66 per share, on political organization deposits. MVB Financial (NASDAQ:MVBF) reported net income of $0.4 million, or $0.03 per diluted share, after a $9.9 million provision. Axos Financial: Is Verdant lifting earnings while the margin eases to 4.64%?

Axos Financial reported net interest income of $331.3 million, up from $291.1 million, and non-interest income of $63.8 million, almost double the $32.3 million a year earlier. The prior-year quarter does not include Verdant, which is one reason the comparisons show strong growth.

Net interest margin was 4.64%, down from 4.75%, and the provision was $24.5 million, up from $17.3 million. The company has about $30.8 billion in assets and about $48.0 billion of assets under custody or administration. Chain Bridge Bancorp reported net income of $10.9 million against $4.7 million a year earlier, with return on average Equity of 22.84%. Deposits were $2.1 billion, versus $1.4 billion a year earlier, driven by political organization balances and other categories such as 501(c)(4) social welfare organization deposits.

MVB Financial: Why did earnings drop to $0.4 million?

MVB Financial reported a provision for Credit losses of $9.9 million, up from $4.7 million in the second quarter, tied mainly to specific reserves on one land loan. Net interest income rose to $32.6 million and the core margin was 4.02%. Total loans grew $43.8 million, or 1.8%, to $2.52 billion, the sixth consecutive quarter of loan growth.

Year over year net income growth was about 15.3% at Axos Financial and about 132% at Chain Bridge Bancorp, while MVB Financial net income fell about 97.7% from $17.1 million (all calculated). TFS Financial fiscal year growth was about 10.7% (calculated).

The widest margin gap was 2.76 percentage points between Axos Financial at 4.64% and TFS Financial at 1.88% (calculated). Bases differ, since TFS Financial figures cover a fiscal year and Columbia Financial reports a core non-GAAP measure.

What to Watch Next: Integration, Provisions and a Pension Settlement

Columbia Financial readers will likely follow integration costs, organic loan growth and whether the margin holds near 2.96%, since most of its balance sheet growth was acquired. Axos Financial will be measured on whether funding costs from advances and secured financings keep rising and whether provisions stay near $24.5 million.

Chain Bridge Bancorp shows how political balances can move with election cycles, and MVB Financial will be judged on whether nonperforming loans stabilize after the land loan. TFS Financial expects a remaining pension settlement in the quarter ending December 31, 2026, and has 4,559,845 shares remaining under its repurchase program.
