AI OKTO Climbs 19.67% Even as It Agrees to Sell Half of Its Fleet

AI OKTO (NASDAQ:AIOK) shares are trading up 19.67% today at $22.61, but a search of filings and press releases found no new company announcement that explains the move. The advance comes despite a recent agreement to sell the Dream Arrax, a 2015-built LPG carrier, for $18 million to a company controlled by its CEO.

Delivery of the vessel is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, which would leave AI OKTO with a single ship, the Dream Vermax. The sale is a disposal rather than an acquisition, and it involves a related party.

Toro Spin-Off Created a Newly Listed LPG Shipowner With AI Ambitions

AI OKTO was formed through a spin-off from Toro (NASDAQ:TORO), which contributed two LPG carriers and about $45 million in cash. Fractional shares were not distributed. The company's chairman and CEO is Petros Panagiotidis, and the spin-off was reported as completed on October 8, with shares now trading on the Nasdaq.

The company has said it intends to build an AI-enabled operating model, working with data-infrastructure and maritime-technology vendors on areas such as route optimization, fuel efficiency and maintenance forecasting. It has not yet disclosed financial results as a standalone public company in the sources reviewed.

$3.50 Special Dividend and $500 Million Shelf Filing Add to Capital Questions

On October 23, AI OKTO declared a one-time special dividend of $3.50 per share, payable in cash or shares. The Record Date is November 2, payment is expected around November 25, and stock elections are due by November 19.

On October 20, the company filed a shelf registration covering up to $500 million of primary offerings. The filing also registers the resale of up to 3,206,185 shares held by Pani, the CEO's affiliated holder.

Pani and the CEO reported shared voting power over 3,336,185 shares, or 77.2% of the company. Pani bought 130,000 shares in open-market trades on October 23 at weighted average prices between about $6.09 and $12.88, for roughly $1.06 million, and reported no Rule 10b5-1 plan.

Concentrated Ownership and Thin Data Keep Focus on November Dividend Dates

Third-party data on AIOK is inconsistent. One quote page lists a 52-week range of $3.90 to $29.90 alongside conflicting average Volume and price-range fields, and no reliable market capitalization, Earnings or analyst targets were available. The share price has moved sharply in a short period since listing, and the figures here should be treated with caution.

Dated markers ahead include the November 2 record date, the November 19 election deadline and the expected November 25 dividend payment. Investors will also watch the completion of the Dream Arrax sale in the fourth quarter and any use of the shelf registration.
