- €25M in funding secured from European Hydrogen Bank for SolWinHy green hydrogen project
- €7M allocated for Brenmiller’s thermal energy storage system (bGen™)
- Project launch set for Q1 2026 with potential access to $200M project pipeline
Brenmiller Energy Ltd. (Nasdaq: BNRG) announced its involvement in the SolWinHy Project, a green hydrogen initiative in Arcos de la Frontera, Spain, that has secured €25 million in funding from the European Hydrogen Bank. Of the total capital expenditure, €7 million is allocated for the deployment of Brenmiller’s bGen™ thermal energy storage (TES) system.
SolWinHy Cádiz S.L., the entity behind the project, is a joint venture between Green Enesys Group and Viridi RE. These companies are also partners with Brenmiller in Brenmiller Europe S.L., which reportedly holds a $200 million pipeline of commercial opportunities across Europe.
The SolWinHy Project, scheduled to begin construction in the first quarter of 2026, aims to produce green hydrogen and e-methanol using off-grid, renewable electricity. Brenmiller is expected to receive a formal purchase order for its bGen™ system and associated services at that time. The TES system is seen as a key component enabling the project to operate independently of the conventional grid.
The announcement reflects a strategic direction in which Brenmiller seeks to scale its TES technology across Europe through collaborative project financing. While the company highlighted the importance of bGen™ in enabling off-grid operations, it did not disclose expected revenue or margin projections from this specific deployment.
Brenmiller Europe’s partnership with Green Enesys and Viridi suggests that similar TES deployments could follow, contingent on further project approvals and funding availability. The deal underscores a broader trend of integrating thermal energy storage into renewable hydrogen production infrastructure, particularly as the EU intensifies its push toward energy decarbonization.
