Third Quarter and Nine-Month Results
Sales and other operating revenue were $485.9 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared with $487.0 million. The company said the decrease reflected lower volumes from the Haverhill I shutdown and the pass-through of lower coal prices on its long-term, take-or-pay agreements, mostly offset by one additional month of Phoenix Global results and higher terminals handling volumes.
Other income, net was $6.9 million, reflecting property insurance recoveries related to a 2023 flood event at the Jewell facility. Depreciation and amortization expense was $42.2 million, compared with $37.4 million. Operating income was $40.6 million, compared with $13.4 million.
Income tax expense was $8.3 million, compared with an income tax benefit of $18.8 million a year earlier, which the company linked to the absence of a prior-year benefit related to capital investment tax credits. Net income was $23.8 million in both periods. Net income attributable to SunCoke Energy was $21.8 million, or $0.25 per diluted share, compared with $22.2 million, or $0.26.
Adjusted EBITDA, a non-GAAP measure, was $76.9 million, compared with $59.1 million. Corporate and Other Adjusted EBITDA was a loss of $6.3 million, compared with a loss of $3.1 million.
For the nine months, sales and other operating revenue were $1,416.3 million, compared with $1,357.1 million. Net income was $36.0 million, compared with $46.7 million, and net income attributable to SunCoke Energy was $30.5 million, or $0.36 per diluted share, compared with $41.4 million, or $0.48. The company attributed the decrease in net income to the absence of the prior-year tax benefit, higher interest expense and higher depreciation and amortization, partly offset by operating results and the insurance recovery. Adjusted EBITDA was $203.0 million, compared with $162.5 million.
Cash Flow, Debt and Capital
Net cash provided by operating activities was $140.3 million for the nine months. Net cash used in financing activities was $127.8 million, including net repayments of $86.0 million on the Revolving Facility. Capital expenditures were $53.8 million, compared with $43.0 million.
