Eaton Corporation plc (NYSE: ETN) announced the completion of its acquisition of Resilient Power Systems Inc., a U.S.-based developer of solid-state transformer technology and compact energy infrastructure solutions. The acquisition enhances Eaton’s capabilities in high-efficiency power management, particularly for data center, EV charging, and energy storage markets.
Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Resilient Power Systems specializes in ultra-compact solid-state transformer (SST) technology. Its SST-based platforms allow for high-density power distribution in a reduced physical footprint, enabling faster and more efficient deployment of infrastructure. The company’s existing product line includes EV charging depots that connect directly to the distribution grid, simplifying installation and improving deployment speed for commercial and public charging networks.
The acquisition aligns with Eaton’s strategy to scale next-generation energy solutions to meet growing global demand for digitalization and electrification. According to Eaton’s Electrical Sector President and COO Heath Monesmith, Resilient’s technology will contribute to reducing power costs and improving reliability across several key sectors. In particular, the SST systems offer a path to improved grid resilience and higher energy efficiency, with additional long-term applications in data centers and utility-scale storage.
While financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, the deal is positioned as a growth-focused investment to accelerate commercialization of emerging power management technologies. Eaton emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition in supporting its broader innovation agenda, particularly in sectors with increasing energy intensity and complexity.
As energy demand from data centers and electric vehicle infrastructure continues to rise, compact and scalable power solutions are becoming more critical. Resilient’s solid-state platforms provide a differentiated approach to medium-voltage power conversion, offering benefits in grid integration, footprint reduction, and time-to-market for infrastructure projects.
With the addition of Resilient Power Systems, Eaton expands its technology base in smart power systems and further positions itself in high-growth areas of the energy transition.
