The company has announced that four cultural and leisure properties operated by Hyundai Card in Seoul have received the UL Verified Healthy Building Mark, becoming the first buildings of their kind in Asia to achieve this designation. The program verifies indoor environmental quality based on evaluations that address health-related concerns in air, water, hygiene, light, and sound.
The four facilities include the Cooking Library, Music Library, Vinyl & Plastic, and Iron & Wood—each serving a different public function. UL Solutions assessed these buildings using criteria grounded in guidance from internationally recognized bodies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), World Health Organization (WHO), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
The Music Library and Vinyl & Plastic received the UL Verified Healthy Building Mark for Indoor Air and Water, reflecting assessments of HVAC systems and water quality testing for potential contaminants and pathogens.
The Cooking Library and Iron & Wood earned the UL Verified Healthy Building Mark for Indoor Environment, the most comprehensive category in the program. These buildings met criteria in five evaluation areas: indoor air, water, hygiene practices, lighting conditions, and acoustics.
Located in Seoul, the facilities serve various public and recreational functions. The Cooking Library features culinary books, restaurant spaces, and cooking classrooms. The Music Library houses music collections, a performance venue, and recording spaces. Vinyl & Plastic offers a broad catalog of vinyl records and music merchandise. Iron & Wood operates as a technology-enhanced golf training center.
UL Solutions also evaluated indoor air quality across three Hyundai Card office buildings as part of a broader workplace health initiative. These assessments focused on ventilation efficiency and pollutant control to support the well-being of employees. A Hyundai Card representative noted that the Healthy Building verifications underscore the company's attention to indoor environmental risks and reflect ongoing efforts to support health and comfort for both guests and staff.
