Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT): Reporting After the Close on October 28

The S-1 names Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) as a shareholder, a compute supplier and a distributor. Microsoft disclosed a USD 3.2 billion gain on its stake, and Anthropic has about USD 45 billion of non-cancellable commitments tied to Azure. Customers can buy Claude through Azure AI Foundry, where the cloud provider bills the customer and keeps a fee. Microsoft also competes through Copilot and in-house models. The S-1 says such dynamics could give rise to conflicts of interest. On October 26, 2026 the shares closed at USD 532.60, up 1.54%, ahead of the broader market's 0.70% gain. The filing also shows how closely Anthropic is tied to its three cloud partners. A gain on a minority stake arises when the carrying value is raised after a new valuation. Anthropic's last private round in May valued it at USD 965 billion, and the IPO talk of USD 1.5 trillion to more than USD 2 trillion implies further upside for holders. The gain is therefore tied to a valuation rather than cash received, and it could reverse if the IPO is priced lower. Microsoft's compute links are the cash side of the relationship: USD 45 billion of commitments to its cloud are a multi-year revenue stream for Azure if Anthropic keeps spending. A gain also sits in earnings and may be excluded by analysts who focus on operating results.

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN): Reporting on October 29

The S-1 shows Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) as an investor, a chip supplier and a distributor. Amazon holds convertible notes of about USD 6.2 billion that convert into about 1.84 billion non-voting shares. That is an average conversion price near USD 3.37 a share, simple arithmetic on two published numbers. Anthropic has about USD 110 billion of non-cancellable commitments for compute built on Amazon's Trainium chips. Customers can also buy Claude through AWS Bedrock, where the cloud provider bills the customer, keeps a fee and passes the rest on to Anthropic. Amazon's relationship therefore combines equity, chip supply and marketplace fees in one filing, which investors must analyse together rather than line by line. A convertible note is a loan that can turn into shares. Anthropic's first-half net loss of USD 80.7 billion included about USD 72.4 billion of non-cash charges, because convertible notes and SAFEs issued to early backers are revalued as the company's own valuation rises. The operating loss for the half was only USD 693 million. For Amazon, the same revaluation can produce gains on its holding when the valuation climbs, and losses if it falls. Amazon also competes with Anthropic through its Nova models, so the relationship runs in several directions at once. No price forecast is offered for Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN).

iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:SOXX): The Chip Barometer

On October 26, 2026 the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index gained 2.82% to 11,083.47, with all 30 members higher. The S&P 500 rose 0.70% and the Nasdaq Composite 0.82% in what was Wall Street's best day in a month. iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:SOXX) holds semiconductor shares, so the index move is the benchmark reading for the fund, but no separate fund price move is stated here. The index extended its rise on October 27, 2026, gaining 3.60% to 11,482.51 in published market data. Two sessions of gains are a recovery from a correction, not proof that the correction has ended. The index figures are published market data, and a gain this broad shows buyers across designers, equipment makers and memory suppliers. Anthropic's S-1 shows about USD 637 billion of named compute contracts, of which about USD 430 billion cannot be cancelled. Compute needs processors, networking and memory, so a buyer committing to years of capacity supports demand across the supply chain. Anthropic's revenue rose from USD 4.73 billion in Q1 2026 to USD 11.56 billion in Q2, with Q3 unaudited at USD 16.8 billion, which shows the demand is being monetised. Micron's gain of 2.98% reflected the memory content of each accelerator. A fund such as iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:SOXX) is diversified across chip names but still moves with the sector's cycle, and no forecast is offered.

SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY): The Index Barometer

Anthropic made its S-1 public at 9:00 a.m. ET on October 26, 2026, and the market liked what it read. The filing showed revenue of USD 16.3 billion in the first half of 2026 and a first operating profit of USD 974 million in Q2. Semiconductor stocks, which had been in correction, rose 2.82%. The Dow's smaller 0.28% gain compared with the Nasdaq Composite's 0.82% shows that technology led. SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) holds the index constituents in index weights, so the largest technology companies carried much of the return, and the fund's own price move is not stated here. The Nasdaq-heavy tilt of the day also explains why the Dow lagged. The S&P 500 is weighted by market value, so a handful of very large companies can lift it even when many shares do not rise. Morgan Stanley strategists see semiconductors another 10% to 15% lower before they stabilise around mid-November, which means one strong day does not settle the debate. The first-half net loss of USD 80.7 billion disclosed by Anthropic was mostly a non-cash charge of about USD 72.4 billion, which shows how headline numbers can mislead. Investors in SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) should compare gains in the leaders with participation across the other constituents.

Where Things Stand

The answer is that four tests follow within days: the Federal Reserve decision at 2:00 p.m. ET on October 28, 2026, Microsoft's report that evening, Amazon's on October 29 and Anthropic's pricing near mid-November. Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Amazon carry company-specific exposure, while iShares Semiconductor ETF and SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust carry the sector and index. The evidence is positive for demand and mixed for valuation and rates. Further disclosure from Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) would clarify the picture. Official notices from SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) remain the best guide.
