Guided Therapeutics, Inc. is a medical device company developing non-invasive diagnostic platforms based on biophotonic technology. Its first product, the LuViva® Advanced Cervical Scan, is used for real-time screening of cervical disease at the point of care. Headquartered in the United States, the company collaborates with regional partners for manufacturing and distribution to expand the reach of its technologies.
The company has announced the receipt of a purchase order and initial payment from Hangzhou Dongye Medical Technology Company Ltd (HDMT) for 35 LuViva® Advanced Cervical Scan systems. The order, valued at USD 700,000, is scheduled for delivery over the next eight months starting in July 2025.
The agreement will see Guided Therapeutics supplying the LuViva systems directly to HDMT, while manufacturing, assembly, and testing will be handled by Shandong Yaohua Medical Instrument Corporation (SMI), Guided Therapeutics’ strategic partner in China. The collaboration marks an expansion of LuViva’s presence in Zhejiang Province, where HDMT serves as the exclusive distributor of gynecological products to 42 hospitals.
HDMT operates in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, a region that conducts approximately two million cervical cancer screenings each year. According to HDMT’s CEO, Yang Dongye, the company sees LuViva as a potentially transformative addition to current screening procedures. “We are extremely impressed with the performance of LuViva and our goal is to eventually replace the current screening tests with LuViva,” Yang said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
Initial shipments are expected to begin in July 2025, with the full order being fulfilled over an eight-month timeframe.
The LuViva Advanced Cervical Scan is a non-invasive medical device designed to detect cervical abnormalities at the point of care without the need for tissue samples. The system uses biophotonic technology, which applies light to analyze tissue at the cellular level. According to previously published reports, the device has demonstrated the ability to identify cervical disease earlier than traditional diagnostic methods during multi-center clinical evaluations.
Guided Therapeutics reports that LuViva has been evaluated for its ability to detect cervical cancer and pre-cancerous changes in women at risk, providing results in real time. Unlike conventional Pap smears or HPV tests, LuViva does not require a lab-based analysis, which may streamline the diagnostic workflow for healthcare providers.
HDMT’s exclusive access to 42 hospitals offers a significant entry point for LuViva into China’s cervical cancer screening ecosystem.
