Revenue Beat and Higher Guidance Floor
Insmed Incorporated (NASDAQ:INSM) shares surged in pre-market trading after third-quarter results showed revenue of $524.4 million, about 5% above the market estimate of roughly $500 million. The adjusted loss of $0.46 per share was wider than the $0.34 loss the market expected, but attention centred on the sales line.
The company narrowed its full-year 2026 sales guidance to $1.81 billion to $1.87 billion from $1.70 billion to $1.87 billion. The new low end sits above the roughly $1.80 billion consensus. Year-to-date revenue exceeds $1 billion, and management said Brinsupri has passed $1 billion in sales in its first four full launch quarters. It raised full-year guidance for both Brinsupri and Arikayce.
Insmed is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company based in Bridgewater, New Jersey, founded in 1988, with about 1,664 employees. Arikayce treats refractory Mycobacterium avium complex lung disease. Brinsupri, or brensocatib, is an oral reversible DPP1 inhibitor aimed at bronchiectasis and other neutrophil-mediated diseases.
Long-Range Targets for the Respiratory Franchise
Management said it expects its three lead respiratory assets to grow at more than 20% annually over 10-plus years and to exceed $14 billion in combined estimated peak sales. The Brinsupri peak estimate of more than $7 billion excludes COPD and asthma comorbid populations, which could add as much as the current estimate.
TPIP, an inhaled treprostinil powder, is expected to reach the market potentially by the end of this decade with peak sales above $6 billion across four indications. Four Phase 3 trials are under way in pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung diseases. Arikayce, with an expanded label possible next year, could exceed $1 billion in peak sales, and a Phase 2 study of INS1033 in rheumatoid arthritis is expected to start in 2027.
Valuation Context
Before the move, Insmed carried a market capitalisation of about $21.2 billion and an EPS of negative $4.11. The shares had traded near their 52-week low of $90.39, well below the high of $212.75 and the mean analyst target of about $196. At the indicated pre-market level, the stock still trades roughly 48% below that 52-week high.
What Investors Will Weigh Next
Investors had focused on the Brinsupri launch trajectory, including Japan, the path to cash-flow positivity in 2027 and TPIP progress. The quarter addresses the first of these directly. Cash burn, the pace of the Japan launch and the TPIP trial readouts remain the key tests.
