Equipment Delivery Lifts a Beaten-Down Stock

Evolution Metals & Technologies (NASDAQ:EMAT) shares rose 6.99% pre-market today to $1.53, a gain of $0.10 from the prior close of $1.43. The stock fell 7.14% in the last regular session, when it traded between $1.43 and $1.55 on volume of 504.01K shares, and it remains near its 52-week low of $1.28, far below its 52-week high of $24.09.

The move follows news that the company received the first 13 of 57 containers of sintered magnet production equipment from ULVAC at its Pohang plant in South Korea. The remaining containers are due by the end of October, and installation begins as each shipment lands.

The company says the machines were ordered under binding purchase orders in May on an accelerated schedule, against a standard lead time of more than 24 months. Once installed and commissioned, it expects annual capacity to grow from 1,000 metric tons to about 10,000, including 6,000 tons of high-performance sintered magnets.

Policy Deadline Frames the Capacity Plan

The timing ties to a January 1 rule under DFARS 252.225-7052 that bars U.S. defense contractors from using rare earth magnets containing Chinese-origin materials, and the rule also reaches Russia, Iran and North Korea. The company expects much of the globally available magnet supply to become non-compliant, and says it has qualified seven high-performance sintered magnet grades with Tier-1 original equipment manufacturers and secured non-China sources of neodymium-praseodymium metal.

By the company's account, other Western magnet projects face the same deadline and most remain at the funding or permitting stage. MP Materials (NYSE:MP), described as the largest U.S. rare earth producer, began supplying a major automaker under a long-term agreement in September.

Guidance Rests on Anticipated Demand

The company reaffirmed fiscal 2027 revenue guidance of $400 million to $460 million and raised fiscal 2026 guidance to $10 million to $11 million, from a prior $5 million to $8 million. Both figures rest on anticipated demand rather than contracted volumes, and the equipment still has to be installed, commissioned and ramped.

Evolution Metals & Technologies is a Miami-based critical materials and advanced manufacturing company formed in January 2026 through a merger and roll-up of South Korean operating companies. Its commercial-scale operations are in South Korea, where it has made magnets for more than 18 years, and it also recycles end-of-life electronics and batteries into battery materials.

Next Up: December 17 Ribbon-Cutting

Investors will track the arrival of the remaining 44 containers, installation progress and the December 17 ribbon-cutting, where live magnet production is planned for investors, partners and government officials, ahead of the January 1 deadline.
