Hycroft Shares Rally on New Silver Discoveries

Hycroft Mining (NASDAQ:HYMC) shares closed sharply higher on August 19, gaining 15.34% to $27.90, after the company released new exploration results pointing to expanding high-grade silver systems at its Nevada mine.

Hycroft Mining is a US-based gold and silver exploration and development company headquartered in Winnemucca, Nevada. Its Hycroft Mine spans roughly 64,000 to 72,000 acres in Humboldt and Pershing Counties and ranks among the largest undeveloped oxide gold-silver deposits in the world, with resources of approximately 16.5 million ounces of gold and 600 million ounces of silver. The company emerged from Chapter 11 restructuring in late 2023 and has since secured institutional backing, including from Eric Sprott and BlackRock, to fund continued exploration.

Drill Results Highlight Two Expanding High-Grade Systems

The latest results come from the company's 2025-2026 Exploration Drill Program at Brimstone and Vortex, two high-grade silver systems within the broader Hycroft Mine. At Brimstone, hole H26D-6169 intersected 82.7 meters at 87.52 g/t silver and 0.77 g/t gold, including a narrower interval of 19.4 meters at 108.19 g/t silver and 2.10 g/t gold. The company said the results confirm continuity of the high-grade system through its widest section and move mineralization closer to the surface.

At Vortex, hole H26D-6088 extended the high-grade silver zone approximately 150 meters to the west, returning 12.5 meters at 375.41 g/t silver, including a higher-grade interval of 4.2 meters at 748.02 g/t silver. The company noted that both systems remain open in all directions and at depth, with additional step-out drilling planned through the remainder of the program.

Executive Chairman and CEO Diane Garrett said the results reinforce the case for a high-grade underground mine, pointing to the company's debt-free Balance Sheet as it works to determine the optimal development path forward.

Program Progress and Financial Position

Since beginning the Drill Program in August 2025, Hycroft has completed approximately 15,585 meters of core drilling toward an approximately 26,000-meter target. For the remainder of the program, the company plans roughly 7,200 additional meters at Brimstone and about 3,000 meters at Vortex, with drilling also testing a potential feeder system below Brimstone identified through a 2025 geophysics survey.

The Bottom Line

Hycroft remains a pre-revenue, development-stage story, so today's gains rest entirely on the strength of the geology rather than cash flow. The near-term test is whether the feeder target below Brimstone converts into a defined zone, since that would broaden the underground case management is building toward; the wider question is whether the roughly 10,400 meters left in this year's program are enough to move Hycroft from expanding a known system to defining one worth building around.
