Record Quarter Across Both Core Operations
Trekor Metals (NYSE American:TGB) shares rose in intraday trading after the company reported total third-quarter copper production of 41 million pounds from its 100%-owned Gibraltar mine and Florence Copper facility. Gibraltar alone produced 34 million pounds of copper and 380,000 pounds of molybdenum, with strong grades from the Connector Pit, higher mill throughput, and improved plant performance driving a 12% increase in quarterly output. The company raised its full-year Gibraltar guidance to 115 to 120 million pounds of copper, up from an original range of 110 to 115 million pounds.
Trekor, formerly known as Taseko Mines, is a mid-tier North American copper producer headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. Its flagship Gibraltar Mine is the second-largest open-pit copper mine in Canada, producing concentrate with molybdenum and silver byproducts.
Florence Copper Reaches Commercial Production
Florence Copper cathode output rose 36% to 7 million pounds in the quarter, with management noting no significant wellfield performance issues and initial flow rates continuing to exceed expectations. The facility, described by the company as the first greenfield commercial-scale in-situ copper operation of its kind, marked the formal onset of commercial production earlier this week at an event attended by federal, state, and local officials. Wellfield expansion remains roughly three months behind the original schedule, with full ramp-up to capacity now expected in early 2027, and management expects 25 to 28 million pounds of copper production from Florence for the full year.
Grade Transition Expected to Weigh on Gibraltar in Q4
Management flagged that Mining at Gibraltar is transitioning back to more complex ore and the upper benches of the Connector Pit in the fourth quarter, which is expected to bring lower grades and recoveries after a strong third quarter.
Outlook: Valuation Debate Persists Despite Operational Momentum
Shares are rebounding from Thursday's decline as copper consolidates near record levels amid Chilean strike risk and Chinese restocking demand. Some valuation caution persists, with data platforms flagging a high price-to-sales ratio, while analyst consensus sits at Moderate Buy with an average target near $9.00, close to the current price.
