Çöpler Sale Turns Balance Sheet Into a Net Cash Position

SSR Mining filed its Quarterly Report for the period ended September 30, 2026, on November 3, 2026. It completed the sale of its 80% interest in the Çöpler Gold Mine in Türkiye on June 24, 2026, and its 20% interest in Artmin, which owns the Hod Maden project, on July 17, 2026. Çöpler brought in USD 1.495 billion, and both Assets are shown as discontinued operations. The company ended the quarter with USD 1.55 billion of cash, no current Debt versus USD 229.6 million at December 31, 2025, and total liabilities of USD 1.01 billion. Total assets fell to USD 4.28 billion from USD 6.09 billion because the divested assets left the balance sheet.

Revenue Up 16% as Discontinued Operations Cloud Net Income

Third quarter revenue rose to USD 447.7 million from USD 385.8 million, about 16%, our own arithmetic. Operating Income was USD 122.1 million versus USD 124.9 million because reclamation costs jumped by USD 44.8 million, our arithmetic on the reported lines. Net income from continuing operations was USD 94.8 million, or USD 0.46 per diluted share, while discontinued operations lost USD 15.0 million, leaving net income of USD 79.9 million. For nine months, continuing operations earned USD 482.5 million, but a USD 425.4 million discontinued loss cut net income to USD 57.2 million from USD 191.9 million. The company operates four mines in the United States, Canada and Argentina, producing gold doré and copper, silver, lead and zinc concentrates.

Buybacks Exceed Operating Cash Flow While Capital Spending Doubles

Nine-month operating cash flow was USD 456.9 million, below the USD 531.4 million spent on buybacks, a gap that divestiture proceeds covered in cash terms. Share repurchases reduced the count by 6.2 million shares in the third quarter for about USD 197 million including excise tax. It also paid dividends of USD 6.1 million and USD 87.5 million of contingent consideration. Additions to mineral properties and equipment rose to USD 221.6 million from USD 116.8 million. The filing notes that results depend on volatile metal prices, and USD 77.3 million of contingent consideration liabilities remain. Prices, reclamation spending and how the cash is deployed are the key things to watch.

Where Things Stand

The cash pile comes mainly from the sale of Çöpler, which delivered USD 1.495 billion in proceeds, not from operations. SSR Mining (NASDAQ:SSRM) used part of it for USD 531.4 million of Buybacks and USD 87.5 million of contingent payments, and still ended with USD 1.55 billion of cash and no current debt. Underlying results look steadier, with continuing revenue up about 16% and operating income roughly flat, though reclamation costs are rising and the discontinued loss weighs on nine-month profit. Further buybacks, capital spending at the four remaining mines and metal prices will shape the next quarters.
