In the first quarter of financial year 2025 (Q1FY25), AMD’s revenue rose 35.9% YoY to USD 7,438.0 million, driven by a 57% increase in its data center segment, supported by growing demand for EPYC CPUs and Instinct GPUs, and a 68% rise in client revenue.

Gross profit rose 45.9% YoY to USD 3,736.0 million, driven by higher revenue and a more favourable product mix, particularly from sales of higher-margin data center and client processors.

Net income increased 476.4% YoY to USD 709.0 million, driven by  core segments, higher gross margins, and improved operating leverage. Free cash flow rose 91.8% to USD 727.0 million, supported by higher profitability and controlled capex.

Recent Business Update

AMD’s board of directors announced a USD 6 billion share repurchase program, increasing AMD’s total repurchase capacity to approximately USD 10 billion as of 14 May 2025.

The company has also announced an agreement to divest its ZT Systems data center infrastructure manufacturing business to Sanmina, to focus on new product innovation related to cloud racks and large-scale AI solutions.

AMD expects revenue of approximately USD 7.4 billion for the second quarter of financial year 2025 (Q2FY25). The non-GAAP gross margin is projected at 43%, reflecting an USD 800 million charge related to inventory and reserves due to new export controls. The adjusted gross margin, excluding this charge, would be 54%.
