  • Strategic collaboration to deliver identity and access management tailored to UK government needs

  • Aims to reduce third-party access risks across complex, multi-vendor defense environments

Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ: AKAM) and UK-based consultancy P3M Works have announced a strategic partnership focused on improving cybersecurity for the UK government and defense supply chains. The initiative will center on deploying Zero Trust Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) solutions designed to manage third-party access to sensitive networks and systems securely.

The collaboration brings together Akamai’s Zero Trust Federated ICAM solutions—already in use by the U.S. Department of Defense—with P3M Works’ insight into UK government requirements and national infrastructure operations. The aim is to establish secure collaboration mechanisms without expanding the network attack surface.

P3M Works founder Jack Marley emphasized the relevance of enforcing least-privilege access policies while maintaining operational flexibility across distributed supply chains. Akamai’s ICAM platform will serve as the foundation, offering identity-based policy enforcement, behavioral analytics, and continuous verification of user credentials and access conditions.

Martin Hellmer, Vice President of Strategic Alliances at Akamai, noted that the sophistication of today’s cyber threats necessitates a Zero Trust approach that continuously validates every access attempt, regardless of source or network status. This is particularly critical in disconnected or bandwidth-limited environments often encountered in defense contexts.

Key technical features of the partnership include federated identity management, dynamic policy enforcement, continuous session-based authentication, support for diverse authenticators, and extensive monitoring capabilities. These elements are intended to strengthen auditability and accountability while minimizing insider and third-party risk.

The joint solution will become available to UK government bodies and their supply chain partners starting in Q3 2025. Akamai will also showcase its capabilities at CYBERUK, the UK government’s flagship cybersecurity event, taking place May 6–8 in Manchester. The company will be present at stand C10.
