EHang (Nasdaq:EH), a global leader in Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technology, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone with the issuance of China’s first Air Operator Certificates (OC) for civil human-carrying pilotless aerial vehicles. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has granted the certification to Guangdong EHang General Aviation Co., Ltd. and its joint venture Hefei HeYi Aviation Co., Ltd., marking the official start of commercial urban air mobility in China.
Commercial Flights Begin in Guangzhou and Hefei
With this certification, passengers can now book tickets for pilotless aerial tours and commercial flights in Guangzhou and Hefei, ushering in a new era of low-altitude air travel. Services will initially focus on low-altitude tourism and urban sightseeing, with future expansion into urban commuting and other mobility solutions.
EHang Sets a Global Benchmark in eVTOL Regulation
EHang has already secured a series of historic regulatory approvals, including:
-
The world’s first Type Certificate (TC) for a pilotless human-carrying eVTOL.
-
A Standard Airworthiness Certificate (AC) ensuring operational safety.
-
A Production Certificate (PC) for mass production of its aircraft.
With the addition of the OC certification, EHang becomes the first eVTOL company worldwide to achieve a full suite of regulatory approvals, accelerating the commercialization of pilotless aerial mobility.
Expanding Urban Air Mobility Across China
EHang aims to expand its flight operations to more cities, developing low-altitude transportation hubs in key locations such as Guangzhou and Hefei. The company will also assist local operators in obtaining their own OCs, enabling more regions to introduce urban air travel services.
