JFrog (NASDAQ: FROG) shares were trading at USD 100.62 on October 23, 2026, up 7.17%. The software supply chain company reported second-quarter results on August 7 showing accelerating subscription revenue, a sharply narrower net loss, and continued improvement in customer expansion metrics.
JFrog was incorporated under the laws of the State of Israel in 2008 and maintains its principal executive offices in Sunnyvale, California. The company provides what it calls the JFrog Platform, a foundational system for managing and securing the software supply chain that it markets under the “Liquid Software” concept, enabling organizations to unify software development, security, governance and distribution across developers, security professionals, machine learning engineers and AI agents.
Subscription Revenue Growth Drives a Narrower Net Loss
Total revenue for the quarter was $163.8 million, up 28.7% from $127.2 million a year earlier, comprising subscription revenue of $155.5 million, up from $121.1 million, and license revenue of $8.2 million, up from $6.1 million. Gross profit rose to $127.6 million from $97.0 million. Operating expenses increased to $140.9 million from $123.0 million, with research and development spending of $54.0 million, sales and marketing of $61.1 million, and general and administrative expenses of $25.7 million. Operating loss narrowed to $13.2 million from $26.0 million a year earlier.
Net loss for the quarter was $4.2 million, compared with $21.7 million in the prior-year quarter, aided by interest and other income of $7.7 million, up from $6.3 million, and a smaller loss before income taxes of $5.6 million versus $19.7 million a year earlier.
Net Dollar Retention Improves as Cloud Mix Shifts
JFrog said its net dollar retention rate, which measures revenue expansion from the same cohort of customers year over year, was 121% as of June 30, 2026, compared with 118% a year earlier, and that it expects the metric to remain relatively stable with minor fluctuations around current levels. The company continues to see a shift in revenue mix toward its SaaS offerings, which it said can create near-term pressure on reported growth rates and gross margin relative to self-managed licenses, given differences in revenue recognition and the hosting costs associated with cloud delivery.
Share Repurchase Program Remains Largely Unused
In February 2026, JFrog’s board of directors approved a share repurchase program authorizing the buyback of up to $300.0 million of the company’s ordinary shares; the program became effective in March 2026 and has no expiration date. As of June 30, 2026, $298.0 million remained available for repurchases, indicating the company had used only a small portion of the authorization to date. JFrog has not declared or paid cash dividends and has said it intends to retain available funds to support operations and its share repurchase program rather than pay dividends in the foreseeable future.
For the first six months of 2026, total subscription revenue was $317.7 million, up from $249.6 million in the comparable period of 2025, continuing the growth trend seen in the second quarter.
