- The Convoy Platform currently serves nearly 30,000 carriers across the freight brokerage market.
- Convoy’s engineering and operations team will join DAT, led by incoming executive Bill Driegert.
Roper Technologies (NASDAQ: ROP), through its subsidiary DAT Freight & Analytics, has agreed to acquire the Convoy Platform from Flexport. The platform provides freight brokers with tools to automate transactions and connect with vetted trucking companies.
DAT will integrate the Convoy Platform into its DAT One service, a subscription-based load board where approximately 700,000 loads are posted daily. The technology is intended to complement existing offerings.
Flexport acquired the Convoy Platform and related intellectual property in October 2023. It relaunched the system in April 2024 as a neutral freight-matching service for all brokers, scaling the platform with thousands of new carriers. Flexport stated that the transaction demonstrates product-market fit after decoupling the platform from its brokerage business.
The acquisition includes Convoy’s engineering, product, and operations personnel, who will join DAT. Leadership will be headed by Bill Driegert, who will also join DAT’s executive team.
The Convoy Platform offers machine learning and AI-based fraud prevention tools to verify carriers and block malicious activity. It includes a mobile interface, currently used by about 30,000 carriers—mainly owner-operators and small trucking firms—for managing paperwork, payments, and load access.
