Synaptics® Incorporated (Nasdaq: SYNA) and Murata Manufacturing have announced a collaboration to create a next-generation turnkey wireless connectivity module aimed at automotive Tier 1 suppliers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The module will incorporate Synaptics' Veros™ Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo systems on chips (SoCs), designed for compact integration and efficient performance under demanding conditions typical in automotive environments.
The new wireless module will be co-developed by the two companies, blending Synaptics’ wireless technology expertise with Murata’s background in compact and reliable module design. The Veros SoCs are built to balance power efficiency, cost effectiveness, and data throughput even at high operating temperatures, which is essential for in-vehicle systems.
Synaptics is introducing its Veros SoC line—specifically the SYN4383 with Wi-Fi 6E, SYN4384 with Wi-Fi 7, and the high-throughput SYN4390 Wi-Fi 7 chip—into the automotive space. These chips are designed with pin-to-pin compatibility and software upgradeability to support future vehicle platform requirements. The company’s recent acquisition strategy also points toward plans for supporting Wi-Fi 8, aligning with evolving industry demands.
Automotive wireless solutions must perform reliably in varied and often harsh conditions, with long product lifecycles. The Synaptics-Murata module aims to address these needs through a combination of proven RF performance, compact design, and system-level integration.
Murata's Director of the Communication Module Division, Masatomo Hashimoto, noted the shared engineering values between the two companies and expressed enthusiasm about combining their technologies to meet modern automotive requirements.
The Veros platform includes support for Synaptics Astra™, the company’s AI-native IoT compute platform, enabling seamless integration of intelligent features into automotive connectivity systems.
