Teledyne FLIR Defense, a division of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), has announced a $7.8 million contract with Middle East Task Company (METCO). The agreement will see Teledyne FLIR Defense provide its cutting-edge Lightweight Vehicle Surveillance System (LVSS) to a prominent military entity in Saudi Arabia. The system is designed to offer advanced mobile surveillance capabilities in a highly compact form, suitable for rapid deployment in various defense scenarios.

The LVSS system incorporates FLIR Defense's TacFLIR® 380HD long-range thermal imaging technology, coupled with the Ranger® R20SS radar system, which can track up to 500 targets at ranges exceeding 10 miles. This system enables real-time surveillance and situational awareness, essential for military and security operations. The entire platform can be operated by a single individual from the cab of a light pickup truck, and its 16-foot mast can be deployed within 30 seconds.

The system's mobility and flexibility make it an ideal solution for protecting critical infrastructure, military bases, and personnel against both air and ground-based threats. The LVSS's combination of radar and thermal imaging technologies provides enhanced capabilities for night-time operations, ensuring comprehensive surveillance regardless of environmental conditions.

The contract is part of a broader effort between METCO and Teledyne FLIR Defense, in coordination with the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), to deliver high-tech solutions tailored to the needs of the Saudi military. The LVSS systems are expected to be fully deployed by the end of 2025, contributing to the nation's defense and security objectives.
