Viasat, Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), known for its leadership in satellite communications, has unveiled its next-generation in-flight connectivity (IFC) solution, Viasat Amara. This new system is powered by innovations in core satellite network design, advanced hardware, and a range of digital products. Viasat Amara is designed to deliver a scalable and differentiated passenger experience for airlines, offering future-proof solutions that go beyond basic high-speed Wi-Fi.

The system incorporates smart network enhancements and advanced multi-orbit satellite data linking, allowing for a real-time, adaptive network that can meet the diverse needs of both airlines and passengers. The goal is to maximize connectivity potential for airlines, driving brand loyalty and growth, as highlighted by Don Buchman, Senior VP & GM of Global Commercial Aviation at Viasat.

Viasat Amara leverages existing technology and is designed to be easily upgraded with a software update to Viasat’s proven terminal, which is already installed on over 3,000 aircraft worldwide. This approach eliminates the need for additional hardware, making it a cost-effective solution for airlines.

Additionally, Viasat introduced the Viasat Aera terminal, a new electronically steered antenna (ESA) capable of simultaneous dual-beam connections across satellites in geostationary (GEO), high-elliptical (HEO), and low Earth orbit (LEO). The Viasat Aera terminal, slated for commercial service in 2028, is designed for quick installation and aims to provide a seamless experience by dynamically adapting to available transmission resources.

Viasat's next-generation solutions are focused on enhancing the quality of service and connectivity across the global network, ensuring a continuous, reliable experience for users on board.
