Vistance Networks (NASDAQ:VISN): Cash returned after RUCKUS sale
No company announcement dated October 13, 2026 was found, so the 1.39% decline looks like routine trading. The larger story is capital return. After selling RUCKUS, the company paid out cash, repaid debt and redeemed its Series A preferred equity, and said a USD 5.00 per share special distribution was planned by the end of August. A distribution transfers corporate cash to holders, so the share price adjusts lower on the ex-distribution date even though total value is unchanged. The published 52-week range of USD 5.90 to USD 20.55 therefore mixes shares that included cash with shares that no longer do. Mechanically, holders who bought before the payout received cash, while later buyers own a company with less cash, which complicates simple comparisons with earlier prices. Vistance Networks reported income from continuing operations of USD 26.1 million, or USD 0.06 per diluted share, while net income of USD 295.2 million, or USD 1.21 per share, included USD 269.1 million from discontinued operations. Adjusted EBITDA was USD 35.8 million, down 32.1%. Management cited memory chip pricing and availability when lowering 2026 Aurora adjusted EBITDA guidance to USD 200 million to USD 225 million. Operating cash flow was negative USD 72.7 million in the quarter, and free cash flow was negative USD 74.7 million, a pace that the company has not tied to a single cause in the release. Net sales of USD 319.6 million were 1.4% lower than a year earlier, and core adjusted EBITDA represented 14.2% of sales, which shows how much of the revenue base converts to earnings. Memory chip costs, softer demand and thin free cash flow are the central risks for the remaining Aurora business.
Uniti Group (NASDAQ:UNIT): Fiber growth and heavy debt
Uniti Group (NASDAQ:UNIT) had no company-specific news on October 13, 2026, so the 5.56% decline cannot be tied to an announcement. Volume was about 34% above the average, a simple comparison of published figures, which suggests more selling pressure than usual. The most recent corporate events were the second-quarter report on July 30, 2026 and the July 15 closing of USD 1.1 billion of secured fiber network revenue term notes, which are asset-backed bonds repaid from fiber cash flows. A term loan prepayment of up to USD 167.8 million was scheduled for July 30, 2026. Secured notes give lenders a claim on specific fiber assets ahead of other creditors. Uniti Group (NASDAQ:UNIT) reported second-quarter Kinetic revenue of USD 539.0 million and Fiber Infrastructure revenue of USD 234.1 million, with total revenue of USD 909.7 million. Kinetic added about 38,000 net fiber customers and built 141,000 premises, while Fiber Infrastructure booked a record USD 2.2 million of new monthly recurring revenue. Guidance for 2026 calls for revenue of USD 3,630 million to USD 3,680 million, a net loss of USD 480 million to USD 530 million, Adjusted EBITDA of USD 1,450 million to USD 1,500 million and net interest expense of USD 805 million. Cash was USD 608.9 million, and 235.3 million common shares were outstanding. Leverage is the main risk: interest expense of about USD 805 million consumes more than half of expected Adjusted EBITDA, so refinancing terms and fiber build returns matter. Debt rose from USD 9.5 billion at year-end 2025 to USD 10.6 billion as construction continued. Kinetic must keep converting passings into paying customers, and integration of the Windstream operations carries execution risk.
VNET Group (NASDAQ:VNET): Wholesale capacity and CATL stake
VNET Group (NASDAQ:VNET) did not publish news on October 13, 2026, so the 1.71% decline reads as routine trading. The more important event is the ownership change announced on May 13, 2026. Funds tied to Contemporary Amperex Technology agreed to purchase up to 650,424,192 Class A shares from affiliates of Shandong Hi-Speed Holdings at USD 1.4486 per share, or USD 8.6914 per ADS, roughly USD 942 million in total. The Shandong shareholders approved the agreement on July 15, and a first closing covering 30% of the shares was announced on August 24, 2026. Because the shares are sold by existing holders, the cash goes to the sellers, not to the company. VNET Group (NASDAQ:VNET) reported second-quarter results on August 18, 2026. Net revenues were RMB2.78 billion, or USD 409.5 million, and the net loss attributable to the company was RMB135.6 million, compared with RMB11.9 million a year earlier. Adjusted net income was RMB7.4 million. Retail utilization stood at 64.5% across 50,081 cabinets. Cash, restricted cash and short-term investments were RMB7.21 billion against long-term debt of RMB19.24 billion, including RMB4.84 billion of convertible notes. Management kept 2026 guidance at net revenues of RMB11.5 billion to RMB11.8 billion, adjusted EBITDA of RMB3,550 million to RMB3,750 million and capital expenditure of RMB10 billion to RMB12 billion. Wholesale capacity in service was 674MW a year earlier. VNET Group builds and leases data center capacity, so growth depends on financing heavy construction spending while debt remains large relative to cash.
Where Things Stand
The answer is that the three network and data infrastructure stocks fell on October 13, 2026 without company news, and their stories differ. Vistance Networks (NASDAQ:VISN) has already returned billions to shareholders and now faces lower guidance. Uniti Group (NASDAQ:UNIT) has strong fiber bookings but heavy debt and a net loss. VNET Group (NASDAQ:VNET) is growing wholesale capacity ahead of a pending strategic investment. Third-quarter reports and financing are the next catalysts. This is not investment advice.
