In late 2023, Zscaler, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZS) worked with T-Mobile to implement its Zero Trust Exchange™ AI-powered cloud security platform, completing the deployment in just three months. This move was part of T-Mobile’s strategy to enhance cybersecurity measures by ensuring secure access to applications and the internet, regardless of user location or device. One year after the initial deployment, T-Mobile has significantly reduced its reliance on traditional VPNs, making its infrastructure more secure and efficient for employees accessing resources both in the office and remotely.
T-Mobile’s Chief Security Officer, Jeff Simon, noted that the collaboration with Zscaler was a key step in strengthening the company’s cybersecurity posture. The Zscaler platform verifies users and devices before granting access to critical systems, effectively limiting potential cyber threats. The Zero Trust Exchange platform ensures that only authorized users can access the necessary applications, improving security while allowing employees to work more efficiently, whether at home, in the office, or on the go.
The Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange provides several key solutions as part of the deployment. Zscaler Internet Access™ (ZIA™) ensures secure internet access without backhauling, delivering full traffic inspection. Zscaler Private Access™ (ZPA™) replaces traditional VPNs, providing direct access to applications. Additionally, Zscaler Deception technology enhances threat detection by using decoys to mislead potential attackers, and Zscaler Digital Experience™ (ZDX™) resolves application connectivity issues to maintain productivity.
Zscaler’s solution focuses on establishing trust based on user identity, context, and device, providing secure connections for users, applications, and machines. The partnership with T-Mobile has allowed the telecommunications giant to streamline its security measures and create a more secure, efficient work environment.
