NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) did not need a big price move to stay in the headlines on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. A new safety platform for AI agents, a reaffirmed Buy rating from Rosenblatt and the afterglow of a $150 billion buyback kept the world's most-watched chipmaker in focus. The shares finished little changed, trading near $230.30 at midday compared with Monday's close of $228.86.
Guardrails for AI Agents
Nvidia launched an Open Agent Safety Platform. The product targets a growing concern in the AI industry: how to keep autonomous AI agents, which can take actions on their own, from behaving in unintended or unsafe ways. Justin Boitano, Nvidia's vice president of enterprise AI, said traditional model-level protections are no longer sufficient to manage the capabilities of AI agents.
The Software Stack Strategy
The launch fits Nvidia's broader strategy of selling not just chips but a full software stack for AI. As companies deploy agents across their businesses, tools that manage security and governance could become an important part of that stack.
Rosenblatt Stays Bullish
Rosenblatt reiterated its Buy rating on Nvidia with a $390 price target, well above where the stock traded on Tuesday, a sign of the firm's continued confidence in AI growth. The reiteration came a day after Nvidia announced a $150 billion share buyback authorization. Rivals were busy too: Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) agreed to buy Fei-Fei Li's World Labs for $8.2 billion in stock.
Chips Led, the Market Lagged
Semiconductors were among the day's strongest groups. Applied Materials (NASDAQ:AMAT) jumped to about $512.29, Arm Holdings (NASDAQ:ARM) rose to $298.14 and Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) gained to $355.10. The Nasdaq-100 edged higher to 30,339.33 on the chip rally, even as the S&P 500 slipped 12.85 points to 7,670.84 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 131.59 points to 51,349.92. The Nasdaq Composite ended nearly flat at 26,797.54.
Rates and Data
