SpaceX Combination Talk Extends the Rally

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares are trading up 4.03% to $407.42, extending Monday's 5% gain as investors keep pricing in a possible combination with SpaceX. The rally follows an upgrade from Barclays to Overweight, with the target raised to $450 from $370. Independent committees at both companies are reportedly studying a deal, though none has been agreed.

Shares opened at $397.80, traded between $395.25 and $407.52 on Volume of about 34.53 million shares, and are trading above the 200-day moving average. The gain compares with a modest rise for the Nasdaq and a roughly flat consumer discretionary ETF.

Tesla, headquartered in Austin, Texas and founded in 2003, is a U.S.-based electric vehicle manufacturer and clean energy company led by CEO Elon Musk. It operates through Automotive, which covers vehicle design, production, leasing and direct sales plus regulatory credits, services and charging, and Energy Generation and Storage, which provides solar systems and battery storage products.

Autonomy Headlines Add Support

Supporting headlines include Full Self-Driving approval in Latvia, the tenth EU country, a Partnership with Turo to rent Full Self-Driving-equipped Teslas, and record Cybercab activity in Austin.

Valuation and Execution Concerns Persist

Third-quarter Revenue was flat, GAAP Operating Income fell 56%, 2026 Capital Expenditure guidance was cut to about $20 billion, and Cybertruck Demand is weak. Tesla has a market cap of $1.61 trillion and EPS of $1.74, and its 52-week range runs from $297.38 to $498.83.

Analyst Targets Cluster Near the Current Price

The consensus rating is Moderate Buy with a target near $411, close to the current price, while Barclays sits well above at $450. The net takeaway is that deal speculation and autonomy news are driving the move rather than fundamentals, and any word from the SpaceX committees could move the shares quickly.
