AGCO Corporation (NYSE:AGCO) reported third quarter 2026 earnings per share of USD 1.05, above a consensus estimate of USD 0.87. The quarterly filing shows GAAP diluted earnings per share of USD 0.75, compared with USD 4.09 a year earlier, when a USD 251.9 million gain on the sale of an affiliate stake lifted results. Net sales were USD 2.26 billion, down from USD 2.48 billion and below a consensus estimate of USD 2.32 billion. Income from operations fell to USD 116.1 million from USD 151.6 million.
Regional Split Between Europe and North America
Europe/Middle East net sales dropped to USD 1.31 billion from USD 1.61 billion, and segment operating income fell to USD 137.3 million from USD 252.4 million on lower volumes, mainly in high horsepower tractors. North America moved the other way, with net sales rising to USD 485.3 million from USD 359.9 million and operating income of USD 13.8 million against a loss of USD 42.0 million, helped by higher volumes and certain IEEPA tariff refunds.
Latin America sales declined to USD 292.3 million and operating income eased to USD 7.4 million, while Asia/Pacific/Africa grew sales to USD 178.8 million and lifted operating income to USD 24.9 million. Selling, general and administrative expenses fell to USD 303.8 million from USD 340.8 million, while operating margin came in at 5.1% against 6.1%. Other expense was USD 33.3 million, compared with other income of USD 208.4 million a year ago.
Outlook Language and Tariff Uncertainty
The company said global industry demand for farm equipment is projected to decline in 2026 in most major markets, and that full year net sales would modestly decrease on lower volumes, partly offset by pricing, currency translation and mix. Operating margins would reflect lower sales and production volumes plus tariff headwinds, with positive pricing and cost controls as offsets. Tractors and combines made up 64.5% of third quarter net sales, and combined sales of those machines fell about 14.0%.
On tariffs, the company described IEEPA refund claims submitted under two phases of the customs refund process, with refunds received on only a portion so far. The administration has appealed the refund order, and the company noted that it could be required to repay amounts already received. Alternative tariffs imposed after the Supreme Court ruling also remain subject to legal challenge.
Cash Flow, Buybacks and Items to Track
Cash used in operating activities was USD 218.4 million for the first nine months, compared with USD 224.5 million provided a year earlier, as inventories rose USD 302.4 million and receivables rose USD 181.3 million. Cash and equivalents stood at USD 415.1 million against USD 861.8 million at the end of 2025. The company noted that working capital typically builds in the first half and reduces in the second half.
Several data points frame the next report. Remaining repurchase authorization is about USD 383.1 million, after a USD 293.0 million accelerated repurchase in May 2026. The company agreed in April to sell its 49% stakes in the North America finance joint ventures for about USD 188.4 million. Appeals on IEEPA refunds, nine month capital spending of USD 162.2 million and the quarterly dividend of USD 0.30 per share round out the list.
