A late-stage oncology company with one lead program
Immuneering (NASDAQ:IMRX) is a clinical stage oncology company developing what it calls Deep Cyclic Inhibitors, which are designed to deprive tumor cells of sustained growth signaling while sparing healthy cells. Its lead candidate, atebimetinib, is an oral, once-daily MEK inhibitor being tested in first-line pancreatic cancer. The company filed its Quarterly Report for the period ended September 30, 2026 on October 29, 2026.
Phase 3 spending drives research costs up 90.7%
Research and development expense was $20.7 million, up $9.9 million from $10.9 million a year earlier. Direct spending on atebimetinib was $13.6 million against $5.1 million, and the company attributed $8.5 million of the increase to running the MAPKeeper 301 trial.
General and administrative expense rose 12.3% to $5.1 million, as higher employee and stock-based compensation costs were partly offset by lower professional fees.
Net loss widens, but share count dilutes the per share figure
Net loss was $24.2 million, compared with $15.0 million, an increase of 61.7%. Interest income rose to $1.2 million from $0.4 million on a larger cash balance, and other income of $0.4 million came from accretion of marketable securities.
Net loss per share was $0.37, slightly better than $0.38 a year earlier, because weighted average shares rose to 64.7 million from 39.7 million after financings in 2025.
MAPKeeper 301 enrollment grows ahead of schedule
The first patient in the MAPKeeper 301 trial was dosed in June 2026. The global study combines atebimetinib with modified gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel against standard gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel in first-line metastatic pancreatic cancer, with overall survival as the primary endpoint.
In October 2026 the company raised the enrollment target from 510 to approximately 570 patients and said enrollment was ahead of schedule. Topline data remain planned for mid-2028, with potential to accelerate.
In June 2026 it reported interim Phase 2 data for 55 patients, with median overall survival of 17.3 months at a cutoff of April 24, 2026, against 8.5 months reported for standard care in a separate pivotal trial.
Cash runway shortens to the fourth quarter of 2028
Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities were $166.1 million at September 30, 2026, with an accumulated Deficit of $335.2 million. The company says this funds operations into the fourth quarter of 2028, shortened from 2029 because of a longer Phase 1/2a study, the larger and faster MAPKeeper 301 enrollment, and commercial readiness activities.
The filing states that additional Capital will be needed beyond that point and cannot be assured. It sold no shares through its at-the-market programs in the first nine months of 2026.
Readers following the name will likely watch the pace of MAPKeeper 301 enrollment, quarterly research spending as the trial expands, and whether the topline readout moves earlier than mid-2028.
