Theatres Lead While Hotels Soften
The theatre division produced revenues of USD 145.0 million, with admission revenues up 21.5% to USD 70.1 million and concession revenues up 20.8% to USD 61.9 million. Division operating income climbed 79.9% to USD 22.2 million and Adjusted EBITDA reached USD 32.3 million, a Margin of 22.5% against 18.6%. Marcus attributes the gains to stronger film performance, Operating Leverage and better labor efficiency, partly offset by higher fuel-driven concession costs.
Marcus noted that U.S. box office receipts rose 27.0% in the quarter, versus a 21.8% rise in its comparable theatre admission revenue, a gap of 5.2 percentage points. The company ties that to film mix, citing titles that played stronger outside its Midwestern markets, and to a decision not to show two films because of distributor terms, which it estimates cost about 1.0 percentage point of admissions growth.
Hotels and resorts revenues rose 2.8% to USD 92.7 million, but operating income fell USD 1.0 million to USD 15.3 million and Adjusted EBITDA margin eased to 27.6% from 28.8%. Management points to storm damage repairs at one hotel, higher contract labor, utilities and property taxes, plus a USD 0.7 million rise in depreciation.

The debt-to-capitalization ratio was 0.24, and interest expense eased to USD 2.5 million.
The company anticipates a fiscal 2026 effective income tax rate in a 32% to 34% range. Listed risk factors include film availability and release windows, tariffs, labor and Supply costs, weather and competitive conditions.
Film Slate and Cost Items to Track
Several measures frame the next report. Theatre admission Revenue at comparable locations rose 16.7% over the first three quarters versus box office growth of 15.4%, so the quarterly gap to the industry is a reference point. Theatre Adjusted EBITDA margin of 19.9% year to date can be compared with hotels and resorts at 18.1%.
Other markers include corporate expenses, which rose USD 1.3 million in the quarter on incentive compensation and insurance, Impairment charges of USD 0.2 million tied to a planned theatre closure, and last twelve month Adjusted EBITDA of USD 124.7 million against USD 99.3 million at year end. Storm repair costs at the hotel property are a named item as well.
