Broad Based Growth Across All Three Segments
DMC Global (NASDAQ:BOOM) reported third quarter consolidated sales of USD 172.8 million, a 14% increase from a year earlier and a 10% sequential improvement. Net income was USD 9.7 million, or USD 0.59 per diluted share, compared with a net loss of USD 3.1 million in the prior year period, while adjusted net income was USD 9.8 million, or USD 0.48 per diluted share.
Arcadia, the company's architectural building products segment, posted sales of USD 76.9 million, up 25% year over year, driven by demand for commercial aluminum framing and high end residential doors and windows. NobelClad, the company's composite metals segment, grew sales 38% to USD 28.8 million, supported by a record international petrochemical order and the resolution of a supply chain delay affecting a defense order. DynaEnergetics sales declined 3% to USD 67.1 million on relatively flat energy market volumes.
Margin Expansion and Balance Sheet Improvement
Adjusted EBITDA excluding tariff refunds was USD 13.6 million, up 59% year over year and 48% sequentially. Arcadia's adjusted EBITDA margin before noncontrolling interest allocation reached 14.7%, up from 13.8% a year earlier, while NobelClad's adjusted EBITDA increased 120% to USD 4.6 million on higher gross profit and lower overhead expenses.
Net debt declined to USD 13.7 million at quarter end, down from USD 30.5 million at the end of the second quarter and its lowest level since the company's acquisition of Arcadia in December 2021. Free cash flow was USD 16.6 million for the quarter, supported by improved profitability across all three segments and the receipt of tariff refunds.
Fourth Quarter Guidance and Market Conditions
The company guided fourth quarter sales to a range of USD 154 million to USD 164 million and adjusted EBITDA to a range of USD 10 million to USD 13 million, reflecting normal seasonal moderation in Arcadia and a planned maintenance shutdown at a California finishing facility. NobelClad's order backlog reached USD 72.4 million, including a record USD 16 million in orders tied to U.S. Navy vessel construction.
Management said construction market conditions remain difficult, citing elevated interest rates and aluminum input costs as factors that could weigh on longer cycle commercial projects. The guidance does not account for potential disruptions to international supply chains tied to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which could affect DynaEnergetics and NobelClad segment performance.
Segment Trends to Monitor
The pace of Arcadia's commercial and residential demand through the seasonally softer fourth quarter, further NobelClad backlog conversion tied to naval and petrochemical orders, and the sustainability of net debt reduction below its current USD 13.7 million level are among the data points the company has pointed to ahead of year end. Early stage defense related revenue within DynaEnergetics, though still small, is a newer line item the company has begun disclosing.
