Thrombectomy leads a 15.6% revenue gain
Penumbra (NYSE:PEN) describes itself as a thrombectomy company, developing devices that remove blood clots in conditions such as ischemic stroke, pulmonary embolism and acute limb ischemia. It also sells embolization and access products, and manufactures in Alameda and Roseville, California. The company filed its Quarterly Report for the period ended September 30, 2026 on October 29, 2026.
Revenue was $410.1 million, up $55.5 million from $354.7 million a year earlier. Thrombectomy revenue rose 18.1% to $279.2 million, which the company attributed mainly to higher U.S. Volume from new products and further penetration of existing ones. Embolization and access revenue rose 10.8% to $131.0 million.
Prices were described as substantially unchanged in both product groups, so the growth came from volume rather than pricing.
United States drives the mix
U.S. revenue rose 17.9% to $324.2 million, or 79.1% of the total, compared with 77.5% a year ago. International revenue grew 7.8% to $85.9 million, and its share slipped to 20.9% from 22.5%.

Sales, general and administrative expense rose 20.9% to $204.2 million, or 49.8% of revenue versus 47.6%. Income from operations was $50.7 million, up from $48.8 million, but Operating Margin fell to 12.4% from 13.8%.
Tax rate pulls Net Income down

The provision for income taxes was $14.0 million, an effective rate of 24.9%, compared with $6.5 million and 12.4% a year ago. The company said the change came mainly from lower excess tax benefits from stock-based compensation in the U.S.
