Key Highlights

  • Shopify (NASDAQ:SHOP) rose 20.19% over one month to USD 165.92 on a re-rating after August results, in published market data as of October 28, 2026. IBM (NYSE:IBM) gained 12.52% to USD 250.35 after third-quarter software revenue grew 8%.

  • Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW) rose 8.06% to USD 400.48 but jumped 16.61% in the latest week after an Evercore ISI survey, target increases from Wells Fargo and Citigroup, and an Anthropic partnership.
  • Year-to-date moves range from 2.30% for Shopify to 116.70% for Palo Alto Networks, while IBM is still down 15.87%, so the monthly strength sits on very different bases and valuation levels, which matters for risk.

Shopify (NASDAQ:SHOP): Re-rated on August Growth

Shopify (NASDAQ:SHOP) reported second-quarter results in early August 2026, and the monthly move reflects the market catching up with those numbers. Revenue reached USD 3.58 billion, up about 34% from a year earlier and ahead of the high-twenties growth the company had guided. Operating income rose 67.7%. Gross merchandise volume, the total value of orders processed on the platform, grew 32% to USD 115.57 billion, the fifth straight quarter above 30%. Merchant Solutions, which includes payments and lending, rose 37% to USD 2.78 billion, while subscriptions grew 22%. No company press release dated October 2026 was found, so this is a re-rating on earlier results, not a new announcement. For the third quarter, management guided revenue growth in the low thirties and a free cash flow margin in the high teens to low twenties, against analyst consensus near 27% growth. Over the past month, analysts made three upward revisions to 2026 earnings estimates and none downward, with the average 2026 EPS estimate at USD 1.911 and 2027 at USD 2.4554 as published.

IBM (NYSE:IBM): Up on Software and Cash Flow

IBM (NYSE:IBM) released third-quarter results on October 21, 2026. Revenue was USD 17.1 billion, up 5% and up 6% at constant currency. Software reached USD 7.8 billion, up 8%, Infrastructure USD 3.7 billion, up 4%, and Consulting was flat, up 2% at constant currency. GAAP diluted EPS from continuing operations was USD 2.31, up 26%, and operating EPS was USD 2.95, up 11%. Third-quarter free cash flow of USD 3.0 billion was USD 0.7 billion higher than a year earlier, and nine-month free cash flow was USD 7.8 billion. The reaction in the shares on the day was not retrieved, so the monthly gain is shown as published. The company raised its full-year free cash flow outlook to growth of more than USD 1 billion year over year, while leaving constant-currency revenue growth at 4% to 5%. Free cash flow is the cash left after capital spending, and it funds dividends and acquisitions, so a higher outlook supports the equity story even when sales guidance is unchanged.

Texas Instruments (NASDAQ:TXN): Up on Revenue and Margins

Texas Instruments (NASDAQ:TXN) published third-quarter 2026 results that were analysed on October 22, 2026. Revenue of USD 6,055 million rose 27.7% from a year earlier and 11.0% from the prior quarter. Net income was USD 2,425 million, up 77.8%, and operating profit was USD 2,874 million, up 72.8%. Analog revenue was USD 4,911 million, up 31.7%, with a 51.0% operating margin, while Embedded Processing revenue was USD 858 million, up 21.0%, with operating profit up 110.2% to USD 227 million. Growth was credited to industrial, automotive and data center markets, although data center revenue was not broken out in the figures retrieved. Both segments grew, so the strength was not confined to one product line, and the quarter was a clear recovery from the lower sales base of a year earlier. Gross margin rose to 64.2%, up 6.8 points, and operating margin was 47.5%. Higher utilization of factories makes each extra dollar of revenue more profitable, because fixed manufacturing costs are spread over more units.

Analog Devices (NASDAQ:ADI): Up on Record Results and Read-Across

Analog Devices (NASDAQ:ADI) gained 7.62% over the latest week as of October 28, 2026, which coincides with Texas Instruments publishing third-quarter results showing revenue up 27.7% and EPS up 77%. Investors treat the two as analog peers, so a strong report from one lifts expectations for the other, which is an interpretation and not a company statement. No Analog Devices release in October was found. On October 9 the shares were at USD 406.19 within a 52-week range of USD 223.47 to USD 445.91, and USD 427.30 is about 4.2% below the high, simple arithmetic. The weekly gain is larger than the move expected from the August report alone. Fiscal third-quarter revenue of USD 4.02 billion was up nearly 40% and about 200 basis points above estimates, and adjusted EPS rose 68%. Communications, which includes data center demand, grew 84%, Industrial 53%, Automotive 16% and Consumer 6%. Trailing twelve-month operating cash flow was USD 5.5 billion and free cash flow USD 4.9 billion, and the company returned USD 1.7 billion in dividends and buybacks in the quarter.

Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW): Up on a Survey and Target Hikes

Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW) rose about 6.5% to 7% on October 23, 2026 after Evercore ISI's quarterly survey of cybersecurity channel partners found budgets strengthening into year-end, healthy pipelines and spending focused on data, AI, identity and cloud. CrowdStrike rose about 6.7%, Okta 5%, Cloudflare 6% and Zscaler 4%, so the move was sector-wide. Wells Fargo lifted its target to USD 525 from USD 475 with an Overweight rating and Citigroup to USD 440 from USD 410 with a Buy rating, while Phillip Securities moved to Reduce on valuation. The shares rose from about USD 347 to about USD 381 over five sessions, and reached USD 400.48 on October 28. The company became a founding partner in Anthropic's Critical Infrastructure Defense Program, which gives early access to advanced Claude models and joint threat research, and one account says its Unit 42 AI Defense and Prisma AIRS products reached the OpenAI Marketplace. Fiscal fourth-quarter results on September 1, 2026 showed revenue of USD 3.41 billion, up 34%, next-generation security annual recurring revenue of USD 9.10 billion, up 63%, and remaining performance obligations of USD 21.2 billion.

Where Things Stand

The answer is that the five rallied for different reasons, and none shares a single catalyst. IBM (NYSE:IBM) gained on reported software growth and cash flow. Texas Instruments (NASDAQ:TXN) gained on revenue up 27.7%. Analog Devices (NASDAQ:ADI) rode the analog read-across. Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW) gained on a sector survey and target increases. Shopify (NASDAQ:SHOP) re-rated after August results and reports on November 3, 2026. Valuation differs sharply, with Palo Alto Networks near 90 times forward earnings and IBM still down 15.87% this year.
