In the second quarter of the financial year 2025 (Q2FY25), ABBV reported net revenue of USD 15,423.0 million, up 6.6% YoY from USD 14,462.0 million in Q2FY24, primarily driven by growth in immunology and neuroscience portfolios, with notable contributions from Skyrizi, Rinvoq, Vraylar, Botox Therapeutic, Ubrelvy, and Qulipta, despite declines in Humira and the aesthetics segment. The company recorded a net earning attributable of USD 938.0 million, down 31.5% YoY from USD 1,370.0 million, mainly due to increased expenses as well as other expenses, partially offset by increased revenue. Cash flow from operating activities fell 59.5% YoY to USD 1,635.0 million, due to the unfavourable impact of changes in net working capital as well as decreased net income. Meanwhile, cash and cash equivalents declined by 6.3% YoY to USD 5,175.0 million, largely due to cash outflow from investing and financing activities, partially offset by cash inflows from operations activities.

Recent Business Update

AbbVie reported positive topline results from Phase 3 Study 2 of its UP-AA program, with upadacitinib (RINVOQ®) achieving the primary and key secondary endpoints in severe alopecia areata patients at both 15 mg and 30 mg doses by week 24. The safety profile was consistent with existing indications, and results from the parallel Study 1 are expected in Q3FY25.

ABBV has submitted a supplemental New Drug Application to the FDA for an all-oral, fixed-duration combination of VENCLEXTA® and acalabrutinib for previously untreated CLL, based on Phase 3 AMPLIFY trial results showing a 35% reduced risk of disease progression or death. The regimen demonstrated a safety profile consistent with individual therapies, with no new safety signals observed.

Company Outlook

AbbVie has raised its full-year 2025 adjusted diluted EPS guidance to USD 11.88–12.08, up from USD 11.67–11.87, which includes a USD 0.55 per share impact from acquired IPR&D and milestone expenses incurred through Q2. The updated guidance excludes potential IPR&D and milestone costs beyond Q2FY25, as these cannot be reliably projected.
