QuantumScape Corporation (NASDAQ: QS) has spent the past several months in a prolonged corrective phase after a powerful rally that carried the stock from below $7 to nearly $19. The daily chart now suggests that the stock is attempting to stabilize near a critical support zone, with technical indicators hinting at the possibility of a trend reversal if buyers can regain control.
The stock currently trades around $7.72, consolidating just above the psychologically important $7.00 support level. This zone has repeatedly attracted buying interest since March and remains the most important near-term price floor. A decisive break below this level could expose QS to further downside toward the $6.50–$6.00 region.
From a moving average perspective, the technical structure remains mixed. The 20-day EMA (white line) is positioned near $7.70 and has flattened after a prolonged decline, indicating that short-term selling pressure has eased. The 50-day EMA (orange line) around $7.70–$7.80 is acting as immediate resistance, while the 100-day EMA (yellow line) near $8.20 and the 200-day EMA (pink line) around $8.70 continue to trend above the current price.
The alignment of the moving averages still reflects a broader bearish trend, as shorter-term averages remain below the longer-term averages. However, the gap between the 20-day and 50-day EMAs has narrowed significantly, suggesting that a bullish crossover could emerge if the stock sustains a move above resistance.
Price action over the last several weeks has formed a potential base-building pattern. After reaching lows near $6.60 in April, QS produced a series of higher lows and briefly rallied toward the $9.00 area in early June. Although sellers emerged near that level, the stock has managed to hold above its spring lows, indicating that accumulation may be occurring.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI-14) currently stands near 54, recovering from oversold territory and moving above the neutral 50 mark. This improvement in momentum suggests that buyers are gradually regaining strength. Importantly, the RSI remains well below overbought levels, leaving room for further upside should bullish momentum accelerate.
For the bulls, the immediate objective is a breakout above the $8.00–$8.20 resistance zone, where the 50-day and 100-day EMAs converge. A successful move through this area could trigger a rally toward $9.00 and potentially the 200-day EMA near $8.70–$9.00. Beyond that, the next major resistance sits around $10.50–$11.00.
Overall, QuantumScape remains in a longer-term recovery phase, but improving momentum, stabilizing price action, and strengthening RSI readings suggest the stock may be laying the groundwork for a larger bullish reversal if key resistance levels are cleared.
