Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU) has introduced the Intuit Small Business Growth Council in the UK, a new initiative designed to help small businesses adopt AI and digital tools. The Council, composed of 18 digitally-connected business leaders, aims to amplify the voices of small businesses and influence policies that drive innovation and economic growth. Despite the proven benefits of digital adoption—such as a 2.4 times higher likelihood of increased productivity and 2.3 times greater chances of revenue growth—over 25% of small businesses in the UK still do not use basic digital tools.
To kick off this initiative, Intuit will host a roundtable at the Department of Business and Trade, led by Intuit CEO Sasan Goodarzi and The Rt Hon Jonathan Reynolds MP, Secretary of State for Business and Trade. The discussion will include prominent small business owners such as Afiya Titus of Coco Financial and Emma Thomson of Gemz by Emz, who will share their insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by small businesses in adopting digital technologies.
The UK government is currently prioritizing digital reform and AI adoption, making it crucial that small businesses are supported in accessing these technologies. The Intuit Small Business Growth Council seeks to ensure that small businesses have the resources and advocacy they need to integrate AI and digital tools, helping them grow and increase operational efficiency. Research indicates that if the UK’s 1.1 million micro-businesses doubled their use of AI, it could unlock a £16.6 billion boost in productivity.
The initiative builds on the success of the Intuit Small Business Council in the United States, which successfully advocated for the Small Business Technological Innovation Act (S.305), a policy aimed at supporting small businesses in adopting digital tools and technology.
