Settlement on RLUSD

RLUSD trades on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood from today. Robinhood plans to use it on the XRP Ledger to settle institutional trades, which extends the stablecoin into the Bitstamp institutional business. Retail users are due to get access inside the Robinhood app later this year.

Treasury and Financing

Ripple Treasury will automate Robinhood's global treasury operations, from cash and liquidity management and forecasting to payments, risk management and the netting of balances between group entities. Robinhood becomes a user of Ripple's software as well as a distributor of its stablecoin.

Ripple Prime already lends to Bitstamp and offers margin financing. Its own clients can now trade spot on the exchange, and it is set to support perpetual futures trading on Bitstamp later this year.

What the Executives Say

Monica Long, President of Ripple, describes the agreement as spanning both customer-facing products and Robinhood's core financial operations. Johann Kerbrat, SVP and General Manager of Robinhood Crypto and International, points to RLUSD for settlement, Ripple Treasury for operations and Ripple Prime for financing. Long adds that stablecoins have moved from a crypto trading tool into financial infrastructure, with corporate payments and Capital Markets among their uses, and that the partnership is meant to let institutions operate around the clock.

The Stablecoin Field

Stablecoin Supply exceeds $300 billion. RLUSD launched in December 2024 and has a market Capitalization above $2.5 billion. Tether's USDT and the USDC of Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL) are the largest coins by supply.

Circle launched the Circle Payments Network earlier this year to connect financial institutions and payment providers for cross-border payments. Ripple Payments, now eight years old, moves money across borders using several assets, including USDC, XRP and RLUSD. Ripple holds more than 85 licenses, and Robinhood serves 28.6 million funded customers worldwide, including institutional clients through Bitstamp.

Earnings Day Backdrop

Robinhood reports results for the quarter ended September after the market closes today, with a live call at 5:00 PM ET. Analysts forecast Earnings Per Share of about $0.56, down from $0.61 a year earlier, on revenue near $1.44 billion, up about 13%. Options markets price a move of roughly 9.5% to 10% in either direction.

Transaction revenue is projected near $887.7 million, with options near $399.8 million, equities near $133 million and crypto near $118.7 million. Net interest revenue is forecast near $430.7 million. Crypto volumes fell 38% year over year in August, and prediction market contracts slipped 23% from July. The previous quarter ended with 28.4 million users and about $22 billion in net deposits, and full-year 2026 guidance for adjusted operating expenses and stock-based compensation is $2.7 billion to $2.825 billion.

What Remains Undisclosed

Neither company has released financial terms, volume commitments or revenue targets. The timeline for the Ripple Treasury integration is open, and no figure has been given for the amount of RLUSD expected to settle on Bitstamp.

Risks

Stablecoin, prime brokerage and Derivatives rules differ across jurisdictions and may change. Digital asset trading volumes can rise or fall quickly. The commercial results of the partnership are unknown. Earnings estimates vary across data providers. Results may land above or below estimates, and shares may move either way.

Conclusion: What Comes Next

Robinhood's earnings release and call today are the next scheduled events. RLUSD in the Robinhood app and perpetual futures trading on Bitstamp supported by Ripple Prime are both due later this year, without set dates.

Further detail on usage, volumes and financial terms would come from the companies.
