Progress Software (Nasdaq: PRGS) has announced the acquisition of Nuclia, a company specializing in agentic Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) AI technology. The transaction, signed and closed on June 30, 2025, brings Nuclia’s cloud-native RAG-as-a-service product under Progress’ expanding portfolio of AI-powered infrastructure and digital experience solutions. While financial terms were not disclosed, the company stated the deal is immaterial to its financials.

Nuclia’s platform enables organizations to automatically extract accurate and verifiable answers from proprietary business data using generative AI. The self-service SaaS model makes RAG-based capabilities more accessible to both small and large enterprises, offering integration with internal datasets for enhanced contextual responses. According to Progress, this acquisition aligns with its broader goal of supporting scalable AI solutions that improve how businesses retrieve and interact with their data.

Progress Software is a Massachusetts-based provider of digital experience and infrastructure software. Its offerings support application development, data connectivity, and AI integration across enterprise environments. The acquisition of Nuclia is expected to expand the functionality of the Progress Data Platform and provide customers with tools to manage dynamic, context-aware AI systems.

Nuclia, founded with a focus on democratizing access to RAG technology, leverages large language models combined with business-specific data to support high-quality, traceable outputs. The company aims to address a key challenge for enterprises, extracting meaningful insights from both structured and unstructured internal information. As part of Progress, Nuclia’s team and technology will continue to evolve agentic RAG capabilities for broader use across industries.

The deal underscores the growing importance of verifiable AI tools in enterprise settings, particularly as organizations prioritize transparency and reliability in their AI applications. By integrating Nuclia’s technology, Progress aims to enhance its platform’s ability to serve a wide range of customers by navigating digital transformation through AI.
