Margin, Funding and Credit
Net interest income rose USD 2.8 million, or 2.8%, on higher Investment securities income, lower expense on other borrowings and one additional day in the quarter. The company reduced wholesale funding by USD 268.7 million and lowered the loan to deposit ratio to 93.22%. The provision for Credit losses was USD 6.7 million, down USD 414,000 from USD 7.2 million, which the company attributed to improved Collateral related qualitative factors and lower period-end loan and Lease balances, partly offset by reserves on individually evaluated loans. Metrics to Watch
Earnings per share rose 14.6% year over year while revenue rose 4.6%, a gap that reflects a lower provision relative to income, a lower efficiency ratio and a smaller share count. Reference points include the margin at 4.33%, the efficiency ratio at 48.40% after a rise from 46.93%, the loan to deposit ratio at 93.22%, and tangible book value per share at USD 24.14.
