Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI) reported third-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings per share of USD 0.42, up 35% from USD 0.31 a year earlier and above a consensus estimate of USD 0.35. Revenue of USD 456.2 million was down 1% from USD 459.7 million and slightly below a consensus estimate of USD 458.24 million. GAAP net income was USD 52.7 million, or USD 0.37 per diluted share, compared with USD 52.0 million, or USD 0.30, in the prior-year quarter.

Adjusted EBIT rose 6% to USD 114 million, and cash from operations reached USD 151 million against USD 67 million a year ago. A sharply lower share count helped per-share results, with weighted diluted shares of 140.7 million versus 170.4 million in the third quarter of 2025.

Segment Performance and Presort Market Shift

SendTech Solutions revenue fell 2% to USD 305 million, which the company tied to a shrinking mailing install base, partly offset by higher equipment sales. Adjusted segment EBIT still rose 14% to USD 115 million as operating expenses declined USD 13 million, and the result included a USD 3 million benefit allocation from corporate expenses for lower medical claims.

Presort Services revenue rose 1% to USD 151 million, its return to annual growth, as volume climbed 4% to 3.4 billion pieces. Chief executive Kurt Wolf said the exit of a competitor in mail sortation brought more than 30 new clients and an estimated two billion pieces of annual volume. Adjusted segment EBIT slipped 2% to USD 32 million on lower revenue per piece and a USD 6 million increase in transportation costs, and the segment received a USD 7 million benefit allocation from corporate expenses.

Guidance and Strategic Review

The company raised the low end of 2026 revenue guidance to a range of USD 1.83 billion to USD 1.86 billion from USD 1.80 billion to USD 1.86 billion. Adjusted EBIT guidance was narrowed to USD 450 million to USD 470 million and adjusted EPS to USD 1.58 to USD 1.67, both with unchanged midpoints. Adjusted free cash flow guidance moved to USD 380 million to USD 420 million from USD 360 million to USD 410 million, with year-to-date cash flow aided by higher prepayments from new customers.

The shareholder letter noted that the Board's Strategic Review Committee continues to weigh strategic alternatives, with no assurance of any change in strategy or a transaction. It also flagged that a non-core contract inside SendTech is winding down, which management said weighs on 2027 revenue comparisons, and that PB Bank is scheduled to be reported as a separate segment in 2027.

Data Points Behind the Next Report

Several readings frame the coming period. Presort volume, at 3.4 billion pieces, shows whether the new client wins persist. SendTech revenue, down 2% on a shrinking install base, is the second. The third is adjusted free cash flow against the raised USD 380 million to USD 420 million range, given USD 147 million in the quarter. The fourth is capital allocation: a USD 0.10 quarterly dividend payable December 8, 2026 to holders of record November 16, 2026, and a further 0.6 million shares repurchased for USD 11 million between October 1 and October 23.
