Syntec Optics (NASDAQ:OPTX) shares are trading down 12.40% at $5.51 even after the company said it secured a nearly 25% increase in orders for advanced space reconnaissance. The stock has a 52-week range of $1.18 to $14.92.

Syntec Optics is a Rochester, New York-based maker of high-precision custom optics for defense, space, medical, consumer and communications customers. Its products range from low-Earth-orbit satellite optics and night-vision systems to components for AI data centers and moon rocket actuators.

Order Increase Builds on a Program Announced Two Months Ago

The nearly 25% rise in advanced space reconnaissance orders builds on a major program announced two months ago. The company said it has produced thousands of specialized optical laser links for commercial space-to-space communication, supporting reconnaissance, secure satellite communications, orbital safety and rocket launches.

Management framed the orders against a seven-year, cross-administration-backed vision for proliferated low-Earth-orbit constellations, noting continued government priorities around Earth imaging and sensing.

Open Capacity and a Debt-Free Balance Sheet Frame the Pitch

CFO Dean Rudy said open capacity, increased profitability and a bank debt-free balance sheet allow the company to scale unhindered. The release did not give a dollar value for the additional orders.

Vice president of Business development Matt Carey described the order increase as the foundational stage of unlocking the potential of space.

Dollar Value Undisclosed as Shares Pull Back From the Prior Close

The release gives no dollar value for the order increase or a delivery timeline. Shares have fallen from a prior close of $6.29 but remain well above the 52-week low of $1.18.
