Clarivate Plc (NYSE: CLVT) has introduced RiskMark, an AI-powered solution designed to accelerate trademark risk evaluations by leveraging data from its CompuMark trademark database and Darts-ip litigation repository. The new tool applies both generative and predictive AI models to help legal and intellectual property professionals assess similarity risks and draft arguments more efficiently.

RiskMark integrates data from over 172 million trademark records across 188 jurisdictions, as well as more than 5 million global legal and administrative cases. The platform evaluates risk based on visual, phonetic, and conceptual similarity, along with the relatedness of goods and services. This approach is intended to help legal teams make more informed decisions when assessing trademark conflicts or planning brand protection strategies.

The solution’s capabilities extend beyond data analysis. RiskMark can generate AI-assisted legal arguments to support responses in trademark opposition or litigation contexts. By drawing from precedent and legal principles, the platform provides users with a foundational draft for constructing defenses or anticipating counterarguments.

Clarivate states that the tool was developed in response to increasing demands on trademark professionals, who must assess conflict risks and respond to legal challenges under tight timelines and with limited resources. According to the company, RiskMark enables a more evidence-based, data-driven approach to risk evaluation, replacing more manual or fragmented methods.

François Neuville, Senior Vice President of Brand IP at Clarivate, said RiskMark supports timely trademark decisions by grounding assessments in legal precedent and historical data. The tool combines litigation and trademark data to help users anticipate legal outcomes by aligning analysis with past judicial trends.

RiskMark's application spans various stages of trademark development and enforcement, including screening, clearance, and litigation support. It is expected to be used by legal teams in corporations, law firms, and branding agencies seeking a more comprehensive and data-supported view of trademark risk.

This launch reflects ongoing trends in legal technology, where AI tools are increasingly deployed to support research, compliance, and document generation. By merging proprietary datasets and AI capabilities, platforms like RiskMark aim to streamline professional workflows and reduce the time to actionable insight.
